He had no hair and he couldn't lift his head.
He sucked on his hand constantly to self comfort. His immune system was so compromised that it took the mosquito bites on his face three weeks to heal.
My heart was shattered by the physical realities of what had happened to him and the devastating reality that somehow he was not considered worthy to live.
And now....three months after we got him. My heart is shattered in a different way as I look at his growth and development and amazed at all that he as accomplished!
Head strength! Wanting to crawl.
Practicing sitting!
And check out the chunk!
No ribs here!
Sweet rolls of baby fat! No more newborn diapers!
The hands are now used for grabbing toys and hair. Look, he can even cross his midline! Growth and development!
We took this little guy in knowing that it would be foster care, not adoption. We believe that he needs a younger family to care for him in a way that he can not. So today, as you look at his pictures, would you thank God for his life. And pray that his future would be made clear. It shatters my heart in a different way to think about not having him with us. But we know it's the best thing for him.

Wow! His progress is amazing... God is truly at work there!
I've been following your stories and pictures and thinking how incredible he looks - he doesn't look like the same child! You've done wonders for him. You should be very proud!
what beautiful progress he is making. i'm thankful that you could be part of this precious boy's rescue.
I love how pudgy he is now!! Beautiful.
Amazing! Praying for all of your futures!

Love that little boy! Isn't he around a year old?
God is soooo good!
A restored life both physically and spiritually. He looks beautiful! We will certainly pray for him and you as you give him wings when the time comes.
I read your recent post because it was shared with me by a coworker and friend. I couldn't stop reading on and on until I got to your post when your foster son came to stay with you. I was just so touched his story and so in awe of what you have done for this beautiful little baby. He is just beautiful and just looks so unbelievably happy now with your family. How wonderful that God had you in mind for this little boy's life. I am truly touched by this. I am the mom of a 2 1/2 year old little girl and a 7 month old baby boy. Since being given this gift of motherhood I have felt a pull on my heart to help children. I don't know how, or what this will look like for me, but your story is the most inspiring, selfless thing I think I've ever read. You, your husband, and your daughter are truly wonderful people. May God continue to bless you.
Beautiful little boy, thanks for opening your heart and home to help heal him! Even if it's a short amount of time, your sacrifice has changed his life! Thanks :)
So fabulous in so many different ways!
So precious, and what an amazing difference. The first pictures are heartbreaking and the second are heart melting! Thank you for letting God use you to rescue this beautiful little boy!
He is so beautiful! Praying for you all.
Oh wow, he has come along way since you shared with us his very first picture!! We'll be praying for the best family to come forward to adopt him!!
A friend shared this on Facebook and I had to look and read. I'm in tears and I wish ... wow I wish our family could be his forever home (we've actually just put our adoption process on hold).
You've helped this little boy so much and I hope whoever adopts him keeps in contact with you and your family.
You have such a big heart. That little boy is so lucky that you came into his life.
Amazing and precious!
Oh, Sandy. I love you. Blessings on you and the small boy. Blessings, blessings, blessings.
I just came across your blog from the RR yahoo group. We are not an RR family but my husband and I just brought home a little girl with DS from Ukraine. Your foster son is beautiful and I am amazed at how far he has come!! I am praying you will be able to get him listed. We'd come for him if there was any way he could. My oldest daughter (3 yrs old) is praying for another baby brother. =)
God bless you for fostering this beautiful little boy. If he finds a forever family that loves him as much as you do, he will have a bright and wonderful future. :-)
