Our daughter is amazing

Dear friends and family,

There are an estimated 2 million street children living in the Philippines every day. Approximately 200,000 of these children live in Manila, the capital city. They have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. They are forced to become beggars, pickpockets, drug abusers, and child prostitutes. Many of them are left feeling unloved with no hope. They are in desperate need of love and hope.

We want to give them that.

A team of about 20 students and teachers from my school will be going to the Philippines for 10 days from January 30, 2011 to February 9. We will be working with Kids International Ministries (http://www.kidsinternationalministries.org/) to reach street kids outside of Manila. Our goal is to reach the spiritual, as well as physical needs of these kids through daily mentoring, construction of a ministry center, and giving food to the hungry.

In order to provide for these children, we need your support. First, and most importantly we greatly appreciate your prayers as we prepare to go and as we're in the Philippines. Specifically, we ask that you pray that God would prepare our hearts and the hearts of those we hope to reach so that we know what to say and they will be open to hearing it.

In Christ,
Elisabeth

I came over to your blog from Stefanie's Sunday Snapshot- I loved your post about your foster son by the way... that was how our son looked when he entered the special care unit he was in in China before we adopted him!

Then I read this post. Hope your group has an awesome time serving with KIM! We were there when the children's home opened in 2005 and Jeff & Colene are dear friends we have known since I was in Jr. High! We love their hearts and their work! Awesome that the kids are going to serve there. I loved in Manila before I was married and much like China, part of my heart is there!
Blessings,
gayly
